eScrip Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Do I pay a higher price for purchases when I participate in eScrip?
A. No. You pay the same price as everyone else and still receive all full discounts with any grocery loyalty card. Merchants already set aside a portion of their revenue to cover their contributions. To collect as much of this money as possible, we need full eScrip participation from CAIS family and staff.
Q. Do I still collect points or rewards on my credit cards?
A. Yes. eScrip simply uses your card for tracking purposes and does not interfere with any card rewards or benefits.
Q. How safe and private is the information eScrip gathers from me?
A. eScrip uses state of the art encryption for data transmission and has extensive security measures to protect its databases. It is certified by VISA's Cardholder Information Security Program (CISP) and is a VeriSign Secure site. Personal Information, card numbers, transaction details (including merchant names) are not disclosed or sold to protect your privacy. For more details see the eScrip privacy statement.
Q. Does my eScrip registration need to be renewed or updated periodically?
A. As mentioned above, if your credit/debit cards or their numbers change, you will need to update this information. If you register a Safeway Club Card, you will need to renew this registration annually, usually between Aug 1 and Oct 31 to insure uninterrupted contributions. Links for doing either can be accessed by logging onto your eScrip online account. Otherwise, your registration requires no further attention to remain active.
Q. Is there any reason for me to register for eScrip, if I don't shop at Safeway or its affiliated stores?
A. Yes, $2000 of online purchases from participating online merchants can generate $20-100 of donations to the CAIS PAC. If 400 CAIS families, faculty, and staff each generate an average of only $50 per year, whether from groceries, restaurants, or online merchants, that amounts to $20,000 a year for CAIS. But we need everybody, including you, to do their part.
Q. Can I generate eScrip donations for CAIS without creating an eScrip account and registering my credit/debit cards?
A. Yes. The Online Mall does NOT track purchases through credit card numbers, so you do not have to have an eScrip account to generate contributions to CAIS through online purchases. Now, if you do have an account, purchases you make through Online Mall will be attributed to your account. However, if you do NOT have an account, purchases you make through Online Mall will be attributed to an anonymous account labeled CAIS Online. Online Mall keeps track of the the transaction price and vendor, NOT the item or payment information. Note AutoEARN, which is easier to use because it eliminates the need to go through Online Mall, does require you to have an eScrip account.
Q. Can my company donate to CAIS through eScrip?
A: Yes. If your company makes online purchases, using Online Mall, either through your account or anonymously is a great way to contribute. Just a few large ticket items, such as computer hardware or software, can turn into a generous donation for CAIS.
Q. Do any restaurants participate?
A. Once you register for eScrip you can be automatically enrolled in a sister donation program called eScrip Dining just by visiting their website. Use your eScrip registered credit or debit cards at restaurants listed on the eScrip Dining website, and they will automatically donate 2.5% of your purchase price to CAIS.
Q. How do I encourage my favorite local merchants or restaurants to join the eScrip program?
A. Send their contact information to merchants@escrip.com. eScrip will contact the merchant and discuss the program with them.
Q. Can I get friends and relatives to also help out CAIS?
A. Yes. Simply email them a prewritten invitation to sign up by clicking here. If they do sign up for you, please email the eScrip coordinator so we can attribute their earnings to your family
Q. How do I withdraw from the eScrip program?
A: You can withdraw at any time by sending a withdrawal request to eScrip customer service.
