Welcome from the Office of Admission

We wish you a very warm welcome from the Office of Admissions at Chinese American International School. What makes CAIS special and distinctive? For more than 25 years, we have offered an excellent bilingual immersion program in Mandarin and English. We have earned respect and recognition both nationally and internationally and have set the standard for Mandarin immersion education in the United States.


At this relatively small school, we are very much a community of students, staff and parents from diverse backgrounds reflecting the very nature of San Francisco and our world.



Our latest news is the opening of our new state of the art, environmentally friendly, Pre-Kindergarten campus. Its location is a 10 minute walk from our main campus at 150 Oak Street. This brand new facility enables us to expand our program at the Pre-K level and have facilities designed and dedicated specifically to meet the needs of our very youngest students. Pre-K will now be the main entry level for CAIS.



We know how challenging it can be to select the right school for your child and your family and we want to make this process as easy and welcoming as possible.
