Volunteering

Volunteering is a vital part of the CAIS community. Your support in time and talent is what makes the CAIS experience memorable and unique. Many schools do not have unlimited access to resources as businesses do and appreciate help from parents with particular skills or expertise. Volunteering also allows you to make special social or professional contacts and helps you gain deeper insight on the school and the lives of your children.
Giving time may be a challenge for many families with already busy schedules and multiple careers. However, there are many opportunities that are short-term or can be done during weekend or evening hours, or accomplished at your own pace. Fill out the volunteer profile and check upcoming events to see what is needed. Also, talk to someone in the PA Council, or a veteran volunteer, about what will work best for you.
Consider helping with fundraising. There are many ways to help the school fulfill its needs, such as staffing outreach events, making annual fund calls, or pitching in with the yearly auction. Asking for money may sound daunting but acting on behalf of a cause that you are committed to, and giving others the opportunity to do the same, may be one of the most rewarding things you can do.
Let the school know what your interests are and be upfront about your availability. If your ability to commit to a project changes, let your volunteer coordinator know early so that alternate arrangements can be made.
