Kenya School Fundraising Project a Success!

Middle school students have been working with Veronica Reilly and Michele Douglass since May of last year to raise enough money to build a school in Kenya. This month, one year later, they met their goal! The students, led by student government, have held a variety of fundraisers, including a coin drive, a bingo night and bake sales to raise the needed funds.

The school will be built in the Eor Ewuaso community, in Kenya's Rift Valley, in partnership with Free the Children. There are approximately 340 children under the age of 18 living in Eor Ewuaso. In 2000, due to wind destruction, many classrooms in Eor Ewuaso primary school and the surrounding villages were destroyed. The current education system is overcrowded and suffers from a high dropout rate.

Congratulations to CAIS middle school students for making a difference in the lives of so many children, and thank you to everyone who helped make the campaign a success. Special thank you to middle school parent Kim Theriault-Shay for rolling all the coins from the coin drive.
