CAIS Welcomes Nine New Student-elected Officials
During the height of the political caucus season as our nation determines which GOP candidate will make it to the general election next year, our fifth graders have democratically decided the leaders of their own fifth grade student government.
Led by fifth grade teacher Ron Morris, this is the first year CAIS welcomes a fifth grade student government. In conjunction with their studies in United States Constitution and Government, the students participated in a representative government by electing their own peers. The nominees had to turn in an application, prepare a statement about why they are running, and present a speech in both English and Chinese.
Fifth Grade Student Government

- Vice President – Graham L.
- Secretary – Vivian W.
- Lower School Ambassador – Tristen P.
- Class Representatives – Grace C., Christopher H., Melissa C., Jet S., Harry B.
The elected leaders had their first meeting this past Wednesday to discuss upcoming events. “Our next responsibility is the Valentine’s Day bake sale,” President Oliver C. commented. “It’s a fundraiser for new activities, cool field trips and spirit days.” For the rest of the year, they will provide a voice for their classmates and also work together to plan fun activities. “My goal is to make fifth grade the best year,” said Vice President Graham L.
Congratulations to our newly elected student leaders!
