What We Do

The Parent Association includes all CAIS parents and is focused on building a vibrant CAIS community through social events, fund raising, communications and parent involvement!

For 2010-11, the PA Council members have outlined four key goals based on the issues highlighted in the Spring 2010 PA survey. If you are interested in helping out, please contact the PA Council.

• COMMUNICATIONS: Foster dialogue between CAIS stakeholders by providing timely and meaningful PA communications. (Jenny Chang, chair) Key work areas: Improve parent knowledge of PA Council activities, parent feedback mechanisms and school/board outreach.
• PARENT EDUCATION: With the Director of Service Learning and Diversity Education and CAIS administration, provide educational forums and speakers to engage, empower and enrich the parent experiences at CAIS. (Cynthia Barbera, chair) Key topics identified: Conflict resolution, Mandarin resources, learning differences, curriculum education.
• COMMUNITY BUILDING: Evaluate current calendar of events to highlight cultural opportunities and foster school-wide participation. (Harry Eng, chair) Key work areas: School picnics, family camp, Chinese New Year parade.
• FUND RAISING: Coordinate events and goals with Development and Administration. (Fiona Smythe, chair) Key work areas: ShowCAIS (parent support), eScrip, boutique, Holiday Faire.
