Updates on School Day Specifics for 2021-2022

Distance Learning

  • At this time, Distance Learning will not be offered. 
  • Faculty energy and resources will be put into providing excellent in-person learning activities and in school health and safety measures. 

Cohorting

  • Cohorting is not required. Per SFDPH guidance, CAIS will prioritize full enrollment over strict cohorting.
  • Staff may work with more than one class or group.
  • There is no maximum group or class size.

Drop-Off and Pickup

With SFDPH’s evidenced-based relaxation of cohorting requirements, we are able to resume standard drop-off and pickup times for each division/location as follows:

Before and After School Care and Activities

  • CAIS will offer complimentary morning care before school starting at 7:45 a.m. for families on all CAIS campuses 
  • CAIS will offer after school care and in-person enrichment classes until 6:00 p.m.
  • Morning and afternoon care and enrichment class groupings will not be based on classes or cohorts.
  • Sports will be allowed.

Snack and Lunch

  • Students will eat outdoors when space, schedule, and weather allow.
  • Unvaccinated students will be spaced apart when eating. Assigned seating may be used during meals to keep track of close contacts during periods when face coverings are off.
  • Meals do not need to be individually plated or bagged.
  • CAIS will begin lunch with silent eating time, followed by conversation time, to discourage talking while face coverings are off.

Miscellaneous 

  • Students can share toys, computers, books, games, play areas, and area rugs.
  • All restrictions on field trips have been removed by SFDPH. CAIS will take a cautious approach and at present no field trips are scheduled. CAIS may organize field trips to outdoor or indoor destinations. 
  • NCIS will resume fire drills.
