Smiling Our Way into the New Year
“Institute Week” is a CAIS tradition to welcome teachers back to campus and structure preparations for the school year ahead. In addition to devoting these days to professional development, mastering technology updates, and understanding new procedures for 2016-17, Institute Week gives teachers the chance to welcome and get to know new colleagues. An opening day event included all new teachers and staff participating in “Two Truths and a Lie” to introduce themselves to their new coworkers in a fun and memorable way. We learned that we have luminaries joining us such as the cousin of the “World’s Most Interesting Man” (from commercial fame), a teacher who has swum with whale sharks and migrating salmon, a teacher whose ancestor fell off the Mayflower, and a teacher who was an extra in the movie Dead Poets Society, among many other fascinating folks.
