Middle School Students Create CAISbery Award for Great Books
You may have heard of the Newbery Award, the American Library Association award given each year to the most distinguished book written by an American author for readers under 14, but have you heard of the CAISbery?
A committee of 18 dedicated middle school readers and two teachers have chosen the best books of 2016 for a new award called the CAISbery. The committee met every Thursday in January to discuss the books, culminating in the final celebration where they compared their picks to the official Newbery winners. To see all of the CAISbery and Newbery choices, check out the Reading Recommendations Guide on the Carroll Family Learning Center website.
