A Guide to ShowCAIS 2020
Held this year on Saturday, May 9 at the Ritz-Carlton, San Francisco, ShowCAIS 2020 celebrates how much this community adores and supports CAIS teachers. This year’s ShowCAIS theme—Growing our Children’s Dreams—is inspired by the Chinese proverb, 年树谷；十年树木；终身树人。 “If your plan is for one year, plant rice. If your plan is for ten years, plant trees. If your plan is for one hundred years, educate children.”
Our returning Co-chairs Melanyann Garvin and Jennifer Leong will transport you to a tropical oasis for a wild night of dining and bidding to support CAIS! Put on your finest to party with your fellow parents and dance to tunes by DJ Leah Rose and live band Covered It, featuring Darren Schulte (Willy, 2nd; and Claire, 4th) on drums and triple threat Eugene Wang (Braden, Pre-K; Charlotte, 1st; and Annabelle, 4th) on vocals, guitar, and keyboard!
Here is a handy guide to give a sense of the many fundraising components and overall timing of this annual event. There’s many ways to participate in the fun!
Families are invited to support the event at a variety of sponsorship levels including the very popular Phoenix Firedragon which underwrites tickets to include teachers and their guests in the fun. Sponsor appeals are being sent to the community in early February; sponsors who reply by March 19 will be included in the official invitation. More information about sponsorships can be found here.
Electronic invitations to ShowCAIS 2020 will be sent March 21. RSVP is required. No tickets will be sold at the door.
Party Sign Ups
Our community boasts serious talent for fun. In March, we will invite parents to join the ranks of Party Sign Up Hosts and organize carousing for a great cause! Party Sign Ups are parent-led occasions organized around varied interests that provide opportunities to support ShowCAIS at a variety of levels.
Call for Wine
CAIS wine offerings are a perennial favorite of the Silent Auction. In February, a call will go out to the community to stock the wine cellar with parents donating bottles of their choice recommendations.
Companies and organizations from around the Bay Area have generously provided items for bidding through our Online Auction. Beginning April 27 and lasting through May 15, all are able to enjoy the auction thrill online without having to leave the house!
Live Auction, Silent Auction, and Fund-A-Need at the Dinner Gala
The crowning moment of ShowCAIS will be on Saturday, May 9 at The Ritz-Carlton, San Francisco. The evening features electrifying items for bidding including the always popular Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten art pieces (to be previewed in the weeks prior to ShowCAIS). The evening culminates in Fund-A-Need, an opportunity to come together as a community in support of a special project. Last year’s Fund-A-Need effort was earmarked to continue renovations at the Oak Campus.
CAIS’s operating budget depends on community support through ShowCAIS, which solicits support through live, silent, and online auction components, party sign-ups, sponsorships, ticket sales, ad sales, and general donations.
