春FUN Program Spotlight Day 1
By Global Learning Coordinator Julie Farrell
As we wrap up our first day of 春FUN here on campus, I am especially thankful for all of our intrepid collaborators making this possible. Guest instructors, institutional partners, networkers, artists, classroom teachers—these folks are not only talented in their own fields, but also patient and creative in helping build this year’s alternative programming from the ground up.
Over the next two weeks, I will be highlighting these friends, both new and old, in our Spotlight emails. Today it’s my pleasure to introduce one collaboration already years in the making, with the Chinese Language Institute (CLI) in Guilin, China.
CLI is both a language training school and a dynamic institution for cultural learning. CAIS’s partnership with CLI began in 2019 with the 7th Grade Guilin trip, but when the need arose for a swift pivot to virtual exchange, CLI was there with a solution.
Anias Stambolis-D’Agostino, Nikki Liang, and the entire team at CLI have been incredible partners in recruiting, vetting, training and supporting our 50+ Guilin Buddies for conversation with 7th and 8th graders. Here are some details about today’s fantastic guest collaborators:
We look forward to the day (hopefully soon!) CAIS students can return to the CLI Center in person. Until then, there’s plenty to explore in conversation with our Guilin Buddies!
