Jiaqin (Jackie) Lin

Preschool Float Teacher

Location: Alice A. Carnes Center, 42/52 Waller Street

BEGAN AT CAIS 2011

Lin Laoshi Jackie had been teaching elementary school in Shanghai, China for many years before she came to the US. She loves to watch the children grow and create an environment to help children learn Chinese language and culture. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and her dog!

刘银珠 (Yinzhu) Annie Liu

Fifth Grade Red/Gold Lead Chinese Teacher

Location: 150 Oak Street

BEGAN AT CAIS 2001

A beloved fixture of the fifth grade experience, Liu Laoshi majored in elementary education at DaBu Normal Teachers College, earned a bachelor’s in early childhood development at South China Normal University (Huanan Shifan Daxue in Guangzhou) and a second bachelor’s in Liberal Arts at San Francisco State University. Having also taught for nine years at an elementary school in Dongguan, Guangdong, Liu Laoshi brings a world of experience to her classroom at Oak Street. She is also an OPI tester and a CAIS parent, as well (John-Yi S. ’22 and Margaret S. ’24).

Tiffany Long

Fifth Grade Red/Gold Lead English Teacher

  • M.Ed from University of the Pacific Bay Area Teacher Training Institute
  • B.A. from UC Berkeley

BEGAN AT CAIS 2014

Ms. Long has a strong focus on social and emotional learning and is known for holding her students to a high standard with a smile. Ms. Long is a graduate of UC Berkeley with a Master’s in education from University of the Pacific Bay Area Teacher Training Institute. During college, she taught adult ESL classes with the Asian Immigrant Women Advocates. After college, Ms. Long joined Teach for China and spent two years teaching English and art at a rural village school in Yunnan, China, before joining us as a teacher at CAIS in 2014.

Rita Mercado

Middle School Learning Specialist

Location: 888 Campus

BEGAN AT CAIS IN 2019

You may recognize Ms. Mercado from the Lower School or Early Childhood Student Support Team. She is excited to now be joining the Middle School team as the Learning Specialist. This will be her fourth year working with CAIS and she is eager to get to know you and your students. She has been in education for 20 years, working as a classroom teacher, learning specialist, and educational therapist. Outside of school, you may find her enjoying city life with her husband and two kids or hear stories of them enjoying the outdoors. They enjoy hiking, swimming, kayaking, and snowboarding as a family.

Lauren Meyers

First Grade Red/Gold English Lead Teacher

BEGAN AT CAIS 2020

Ms. Meyers (“Miss M.” to students) was born and raised in San Francisco. This is her seventh year working in the classroom. She has a BA in Language Studies with a minor in Education. She graduated from the Bay Area Teacher Training Institute with an MA in teaching and Multiple Subjects Teaching Credentials this May. Her goal is to cultivate a classroom community centered on curiosity and love of learning so that kids grow up to be lifelong learners. She is particularly excited to teach Math and Science.

Ron Morris

Third Grade Red/Gold Lead English Teacher

BEGAN AT CAIS: 1997

Celebrating 25 years at CAIS, Mr. Morris has served in countless capacities, teaching numerous grade levels, coaching CAIS basketball, volleyball, and futsal teams over the years, and parenting CAIS students Samantha ’24 and William ’26. His students remark that he takes the time to connect with each child individually, which is affirmed by how many students come back to visit Mr. Morris after graduating from CAIS.

Sean Mosconi

6th Grade English and Social Studies Teacher and High School Transition Counselor

Location: 888 Turk Street

BEGAN AT CAIS 2013

Mr. Mosconi has always had a passion for working with and educating children, beginning with summer camps and afterschool programs as a teenager. After six years working as a teaching assistant in Kindergarten, third, and fourth grades, he returned to school to earn his California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential at Notre Dame de Namur University. Mr. Mosconi has been a lead teacher at CAIS since 2013 and has coached Boys JV Basketball and Boys JV Futsal. He attended the Reading Institute at Columbia Teachers College in 2015 and brings enthusiasm for teaching social studies and critical thinking. His students note that he has a calming, even-keeled presence in the classroom and he brings enthusiasm for teaching English and social studies content. Mr. Mosconi serves as High School Placement Counselor, building on his deep knowledge of our middle schoolers and the array of best fit secondary education options around the Bay and beyond.
