Fifth Graders Ready to Take Their Place in Middle School!

Fifth Grade Promotion Ceremony 2022
Fifth Grade Promotion Ceremony 2022

We had so much fun hosting our very own fifth-grade focused Promotion Ceremony in the 19th Avenue Theater! With the help of an amazing team that included the fifth grade English and Chinese teachers, Dance teacher Ms. Nia Womack-Freeman, hip hop resident expert and CAIS Teaching Associate Ms. Orina Lee, and LS Administrative Assistant Sally Hong, we held a program that highlighted our mission to embrace Chinese, and which featured all the fifth grade students in unique ways.

We kicked things off with a high-energy hip hop dance opener (that included a Rubik’s Cube cubing to a synchronized beat!) before segueing to a program that spotlighted the fifth graders’ voices, artistic expressions (music and visual art), and words of wisdom. In the weeks leading up to the event, fifth graders were given the opportunity to either create artwork to decorate the theater (see below for some amazing encapsulations of the CAIS Core Values!), write speeches (in English and in Mandarin), or deliver the speeches (English and Mandarin) during the ceremony. Our Keynote Address, “Believe You Can and You’re Halfway There” was also collaboratively written and delivered by this year’s Student Government Presidents. The final result was a testament to the strength of this class and the teamwork of our faculty and staff. Bravo to the CAIS Class of 2025… we will miss you on Oak Campus, and we look forward to hearing about your successes in Middle School!
