On Stage

03/06/26 and 03/07/26 The Gam Saan* Trilogy

This year’s Middle School production is a departure from the narrative storylines of the past few productions. This year, the students are presenting a collection of dramatic scenes and musical numbers loosely based on the Chinese-American Experience, covering immigration, railroads, the Chinese Exclusion Act, speaking to power and pushing back.

There will be an evening performance on Friday, March 6 and a matinee performance on Saturday, March 7.

Faculty Coordinator Ron Morris shared that the CAIS Theater student leadership team has been working hard to get this year’s production up and running:

  • Ilya T., 8th grade – Student Director
  • Bryce W., 7th grade – Assistant Student Director/Interim Tech. Crew Director
  • Andrew H., 8th grade – Producer
  • Elise C., 8th grade, and Nate Howe, 8th grade – Casting and Performance Co-Directors
  • Kainoa P., 8th grade, and Mason Wu, 8th grade – Stagecraft/Props Directors
  • Sidney A., 8th grade – Costumes Director
  • Riley M., 8th grade – Stage Manager

* Special Note from the Students: “We know that Gam Saan is Cantonese, not Mandarin, but we feel that it is more historically accurate since the early wave of immigrants from China came for areas that spoke Cantonese, not Mandarin.”
