Recognizing that education and parenting are “team sports,” CAIS organizes and coordinates a variety of programs and offerings to help parents be the best supports possible in their children’s learning journey. Annual offerings typically include:
Free SPEAK Presentations
CAIS is a member of Speakers for Parents, Educators, and Knowledge (SPEAK), a coalition of San Francisco K-8 schools that have joined together to enhance parent education. The group’s goal is to enrich the education and learning experience of our families, our children and our communities.
Early Childhood Center Positive Discipline Parent Education
Each year Positive Discipline Trainer Marcilie Smith Boyle leads an engaging 1.5-hour interactive workshop on Positive Discipline skills and tools for parents. The session will often have a special focus, such as the topic “Emotional Regulation for Children and Adults”, which many parents have expressed strong interest in.
The workshops begins with a 30-minute introduction and icebreaking activity to introduce the core concepts of Positive Discipline, followed by interactive activities to help parents better understand how to:
- Support children in emotional regulation
- Encourage problem-solving skills
- Practice empathy in daily interactions
