Progress Toward Our Brightest Future

More Music Opportunities at CAIS

The critical work of developing our Strategic Vision for 2026 and beyond is a thorough, deliberate, and collaborative process that will stretch across the school year. While the Board and community iterate on plans for the future, in the shorter term we already are tapping into some of the powerful possibilities of our new campus right now. Confucius said “成于乐” (be perfected by music), so the latest developments in our music offerings feel like an especially bright way to advance CAIS programs.

In addition to the exciting partnership that has begun with the Golden Gate Philharmonic being housed at CAIS (see details here), we are thrilled to welcome the creation of our own Middle School Chamber Ensembles. CAIS Music & Movement Teacher Brite Zhou is serving as conductor for these new groups, including a Guzheng and Piano Duo and a Quintet featuring Pianos, Voice, Guitar, and Bass. Following auditions last week, these seven intrepid student musicians have just begun work toward an anticipated first performance later this fall.

Brite shares, “The students’ enthusiasm and professionalism left a strong impression on me. They communicated clearly and were punctual and prepared for auditions. I plan to do everything in my power to help them become the best musicians they can be.” When asked how they felt about performing in their groups on the CAIS Theater stage, eighth grader William M. said “It would be a dream come true.”
