Update on 19th Avenue Campus Timeline

As we work on renovating the 19th Avenue campus for our move, it has become increasingly clear that we will not be moving classes to our new campus in August of 2023. A variety of factors indicate this, including: 1) the time required for the city to grant us permits to do the work (which we do not control), 2) the lead time on ordering construction materials, and 3) the time required to raise the funds, to name just a few big reasons.

Graduation 2022

The Class of 2022 became the first CAIS eighth grade to graduate in the theater at the new 19th Avenue campus on June 9. Alumna Kelsey Rasmussen ’12 served as emcee for program which featured six musical performances by members of the class in addition to the entire eighth grade joining together for the traditional performance of Never Say Goodbye 不说再见.

Students’ Work Continues to Have Impact 

Daniel Bednarczyk from Slide Ranch (site of our sixth grade outdoor ed last fall) shared an update on our story from the January 2022 Middle School Update on the Black Lives Matter signs that our students created for them. “The good news is that after your visit our BLM sign stayed up for a record amount of time! The bad news is that it has finally been torn off. Fortunately, we have an abundance of backups thanks to your school! Our first one is up right now. I hope they keep breaking the record.”
