Announcing Our New Director of Admission and Enrollment Management

As Head of School, one of the most important responsibilities I have is attracting, hiring, developing and retaining top-tier talent. Case in point: one year ago CAIS hired an outstanding early childhood educator, Elaine Chang. I had been trying to persuade Elaine to come to our school since spring 2020; I have lost count of how many Zoom calls Elaine and I had before she agreed to join the CAIS team. I was, like, hallelujah!

CAIS Takes Ownership of the 19th Avenue Campus

It’s been years in the making—and it’s going to take a few more years of work to fully realize the dream—but today CAIS took an enormous step toward creating a forever home for Chinese immersion education as we transferred ownership of the 19th Avenue Campus at the closing with the Sisters of Mercy. After 40 years of making our home in rented and shared spaces, CAIS at last is taking ownership of a campus that is all our own and will house all of our programs, current AND future!

Mid-Autumn Festival — A Festival in Our Heart

In September we celebrate one of the most important festivals in Asian countries, 中秋节 (zhōng qiū jié), the Mid-Autumn Festival. When life threw us a curveball last year, our whole school demonstrated perseverance, courage and resilience by working hand in hand (though socially distanced, of course!) to respond to COVID regulations and requirements while supporting our students’ emotional well-being and offering them the best dual language education even in the face of such unprecedented circumstances.
