Bringing Science to Life for Middle Schoolers

Seventh graders recently participated in an exercise lab where they looked at how different exercises impacted their heart beats. Performing burpees, jumping jacks, and squats they then monitored their heart rates to see which exercise increased heart rates most.

The eighth graders have been learning about Newton’s three laws of motion in relation to collisions, and how collisions impact different materials. They also used push/pull scales to measure elastic limits in different materials, such as uncooked noodles, wooden stirs, and styrofoam strips.
