As executive assistant to the office of the Head of School, Lucy shares Jeff Bissell’s enthusiasm for exploring and testing gadgets, gizmos, and systems for organization and efficiency. She brings years of experience in office management and holds a B.S. in psychology from U.C. Davis and a master’s in accounting from Golden Gate University. As a leading light on the Sunshine Committee, Lucy brings special joy to CAIS colleagues by working with FSA on a variety of faculty/staff appreciation efforts throughout the year.

Jun Niu
K-5th Grade Librarian

Ms. Niu is in her 23rd year as a librarian, having managed libraries in international schools in both Hong Kong and the United States. She holds a bachelor’s degree in legal studies from Shandong University, a master’s degree in library and information science from San Jose State University, and a master’s degree in education from the University of Hong Kong. She believes that reading is essential for lifelong learning. Joining CAIS allows her to “return”—not only to the San Francisco Bay Area, where she began her library career, but also to serve her community in her native language. In addition to reading and discussing books, she enjoys cooking, hiking, watching movies, and playing pickleball.

Wei Qian

Began at CAIS in 2021
Wei joined CAIS from the BASIS Independent School in Fremont, California, where she served as Early Years Dean of Students. There she continued to build on her strength from Yuming Charter School in Oakland, developing and implementing multi-tiered academic and behavioral support systems for all students. Wei holds a bachelor of arts degree in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language from Shanghai University and a master’s of education in Foreign Language Curriculum and Teaching from DePaul University.
Excited to begin at CAIS this coming school year, she shares, “It is an honor to join this extraordinary school community with such persevering students, an extremely dedicated staff, and a supportive school community! I am committed to uniting my experience, my openness to learn, and my student-centered approach to support every student at CAIS and to build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents. Together we will empower our Firedragons to shape their future and the future of our community and our nation!”

Elisabeth Radravu

Ms. Radravu (raw-draw-voo) brings a passion for building a positive community among adults and students. In addition to her professional development through the Teachers College Reading and Writing Project and Fundations’ Wilson Language Training, she has training in Anti-Bias Education for K-12 Educators and Responsive Classroom Levels 1 and 2. She holds a Master’s in Education, Curriculum and Instruction from University of the Pacific and a B.A. in Child and Adolescent Development from San Francisco State University. When she is not teaching, she enjoys hiking, going to Giants games, and finding ghost towns to visit!

Kimberly Reid

Lower School veteran Ms. Reid holds a BA from UC Berkeley and an MA in Education from Seattle Pacific University. A skilled literacy teacher, she also attended the Reading Institute at Teachers College at Columbia University. Ms. Reid has taught at CAIS since 2011. She believes that the first step to student achievement is making all children feel comfortable in the classroom, and this is palpable in her kind, calm tone with the children.

Jonathan Rosen
Fourth–Eighth Grade Studio Art Specialist
Began at CAIS 2022
A San Francisco native, Mr. Rosen studied Film at Bard College before moving to New York City to pursue animation and music. For the past 7 years he has been living in Los Angeles, working as an artist, musician, and arts educator. In 2022 he completed his Masters in Teaching at Pepperdine University, and is thrilled to return to his favorite city in the world to join the CAIS community as a studio art teacher. In his free time he is a contributing cartoonist for the New Yorker, plays basketball, and enjoys camping with friends.

Sophia Rutkin
Director of Summer Programs

A proud San Franciscan, Sophia Rutkin has built her career on serving the youth of this great city. She received a Bachelors of Arts in History at Vassar College, and a Masters in Business Administration at the University of San Francisco. Through her work with Playworks, Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco, and the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco, she has had the opportunity to develop and lead transformative summer and after school programs. Ms. Rutkin is eager to join the CAIS community, and help realize the vision of summer programming in the new campus. Additionally, as an Alice Fong Yu Alternative School alumna, she is excited to rejoin a Chinese immersion school environment, and brush up on her Mandarin. Her spare time is now almost entirely dedicated to her 7 month old son Jeremiah, and she also loves to read, play sports, and bake.
